🌄 About Sonamarg – The Meadow of Gold
Sonamarg sits at an altitude of 2,800 meters and is surrounded by towering peaks of the Great Himalayas. It serves as the gateway to Ladakh and is famous for the Thajiwas Glacier, golden meadows, pony rides, river streams, and high-altitude trekking routes. During spring and summer, the valley glows with wildflowers, while winter turns it into a frozen wonderland.
📍 How to Reach Sonamarg from Srinagar
🚗 The distance from Srinagar to Sonamarg is around 80 km.
⏱️ It takes 2–2.5 hours by car or cab depending on road conditions.
🌉 The route passes through Ganderbal, Gund, and beautifully carved mountain roads.
💡 Public transport is limited, so most travellers prefer private taxis.

🌟 No entry ticket for Sonamarg valley.
🐎 Pony rides to Thajiwas Glacier are available (₹1,500–₹3,000 depending on season).
