The road curved just before the Sonamarg parking…
Ananya noticed—the other car was no longer beside them.
“Stop here,” she said to the driver.
🚗 The car slowed… then halted at the roadside. Little Deepabali jumped out first, excited by the open valley. Ananya followed, adjusting her shawl as the cold wind brushed past.
“Come,” she said softly.
But Akash didn’t move.
He stayed inside… still… watching nothing.
Because now—he was no longer in Sonamarg.
He was somewhere else… somewhere unfinished.
Why didn’t I tell her?
The question came suddenly—not forced… just inevitable.
He leaned back slightly… closed his eyes.
They had been close—closer than most. He had felt it. Her presence… her silence… her understanding. It wasn’t ordinary.
And yet—he had never said it. Never named it.
Because he was afraid.
What if she didn’t feel the same?
What if I lost her completely?
So he chose what felt safe.
Friendship.
But now—sitting alone in the car—he realized something.
✨ He had lost her anyway.
🌿 Outside—Ananya stood quietly, watching the valley… watching the distance between two cars… two lives. Little Deepabali ran ahead, calling out—“Maa! Look at the snow!”
Ananya smiled faintly… but her eyes moved elsewhere—toward Depabali… standing alone… and then toward Akash… still inside the car.
Not moving.
Not joining.
Not choosing.
Ananya didn’t call him this time.
Because she understood something now.
Some distances cannot be crossed by calling someone closer.
Inside the car—Akash opened his eyes.
One thought remained—
Did she love me too?
The question stayed… unanswered. Just like everything else.
🏔️ Outside—the valley remained calm… unbothered.
Because mountains don’t question.
They simply stand… and wait—for people to understand what they never say.
