โ From the skies above the turquoise islands to the silent walls of Cellular Jail and the waves of Corbynโs Cove โ Day 1 begins where history meets the sea. ๐ซ๐๏ธ๐โจ โ
๐ด Welcome to Day 1 of Our Andaman Journey
A new journey begins.
After exploring the mountains and valleys of Kashmir, TravelWithSurajit takes you to a completely different world โ the tropical paradise of the Andaman Islands.
Welcome to Andaman Tour โ Day 1, captured through a peaceful and immersive Digital Photo Album.
Our first day takes us from the skies above the Bay of Bengal to the historic streets of Port Blair, from the solemn corridors of Cellular Jail to the relaxing shores of Corbynโs Cove Beach.
It is a day of contrasts.
โ๏ธ A journey through the clouds.
๐ Turquoise islands beneath the aircraft.
๐๏ธ A powerful chapter of India’s history.
๐๏ธ And finally, the peaceful rhythm of the sea.
As always, there is no unnecessary narration.
Just the journey.
Just the atmosphere.
Just the feeling of being there. ๐
๐ซ Kolkata to Port Blair โ The Journey Begins
Our Andaman adventure begins with an early morning flight from Kolkata (CCU) towards Port Blair (IXZ).
The excitement begins even before reaching the islands.
As the aircraft leaves Kolkata behind and continues towards the Andaman Sea, the view outside the window slowly begins to change.
The familiar mainland disappears.
The endless blue of the sea takes over.
And scattered islands begin appearing beneath the aircraft.
This aerial perspective provides the perfect introduction to the Andaman Islands.
๐ Andaman From Above
One of the most beautiful parts of the journey is seeing the islands from the sky.
From above, the Andaman landscape becomes a combination of:
๐ Deep blue ocean
๐ Turquoise coastal waters
๐๏ธ Scattered islands
๐ฟ Dense tropical greenery
โ๏ธ Endless sky
The contrast between the deep ocean and the lighter waters surrounding the islands creates an extraordinary aerial landscape.
For a travel photographer, even the flight itself becomes part of the destination.
๐ฌ Arrival at Port Blair
After the scenic flight, we finally arrive at Port Blair, the gateway to our Andaman adventure.
The airport marks the beginning of our island exploration.
The tropical atmosphere feels immediately different from mainland India.
The air is warmer.
The surroundings are greener.
And the sea is never far away.
From here, our Day 1 journey continues into Port Blair.
๐จ A Gentle Beginning in Port Blair
After arrival, we transfer to Hotel Rishabite, Marine Hill, where we take some time to settle down and begin experiencing the local atmosphere.
The first day isn’t about rushing from one attraction to another.
It is about slowly entering the rhythm of island life.
And naturally, food becomes part of that experience.
๐ค A Taste of the Islands
Our first day also introduces us to local seafood flavours.
Among the meals enjoyed during the journey were:
๐ค Prawn curry
๐ Fresh fish
๐ Local-style accompaniments
Food is another way of experiencing a destination.
The flavours, ingredients and cooking styles become part of the memories we carry home.
And on an island surrounded by the sea, fresh seafood naturally becomes an important part of the culinary experience.
๐๏ธ Cellular Jail โ Where History Speaks in Silence
The most powerful experience of Day 1 comes with our visit to the Cellular Jail National Memorial.
Known as Kala Pani, Cellular Jail represents one of the most significant chapters in India’s freedom struggle.
Built between 1896 and 1906, the prison was designed primarily for solitary confinement.
Its original structure contained 698 cells spread across seven wings.
Today, only three wings remain.
But even the remaining structure is enough to create a profound sense of history.
๐ฏ๏ธ Walking Through the Cellular Jail
Inside the jail, the atmosphere changes completely.
The tropical brightness of Port Blair seems far away.
The walls are quiet.
The corridors are narrow.
And every cell carries a sense of the difficult history associated with this place.
Our video explores the jail through visuals rather than lengthy explanations.
You will see:
๐๏ธ Historic prison corridors
๐ช Individual cells
๐ผ Central tower
๐ฏ๏ธ Martyr’s memorial flame
๐ Historical galleries
โ๏ธ Execution room
The purpose isn’t simply to show a monument.
It is to allow the atmosphere of the place to speak for itself.
๐งฑ The Seven-Wing Design
The original Cellular Jail was constructed with a distinctive radial design.
Seven wings extended outward from a central tower, allowing the authorities to maintain control and isolate prisoners.
The design was particularly associated with solitary confinement.
Each individual cell was intended to prevent prisoners from communicating with one another.
Today, walking through the surviving structure provides a glimpse into the harsh environment of the colonial prison system.
๐ฏ๏ธ The Martyr’s Memorial Flame
Among the emotionally powerful sights within the memorial is the martyr’s memorial flame.
It stands as a symbolic reminder of those who endured imprisonment and hardship during India’s freedom struggle.
In a silent travel video, moments like this do not need much explanation.
The visual itself carries the emotion.
The flame.
The walls.
The silence.
The history.
๐๏ธ Galleries and Historical Memories
The Cellular Jail complex also contains galleries documenting the history of the prison and the people associated with it.
Photographs, displays and historical information provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the lives of prisoners who were sent to the Andaman Islands.
Our Digital Photo Album captures these elements as part of the wider experience of visiting this important national memorial.
โ๏ธ The Execution Room
Another deeply sobering part of the Cellular Jail is the historic execution room.
It is a place that immediately changes the emotional atmosphere of the visit.
Rather than treating it simply as another tourist attraction, our video allows viewers to experience the location quietly.
Some places are meant to be photographed.
Some are meant to be remembered.
And some are meant to make us pause.
Cellular Jail is all three.
๐ From History to the Sea
After spending time surrounded by the weight of history, Day 1 takes a completely different turn.
We head towards Corbyn’s Cove Beach.
The atmosphere changes instantly.
The walls of the historic jail give way to:
๐ด Coconut palms
๐ Ocean waves
๐๏ธ Sandy shores
โ๏ธ Open skies
๐ต Tea and snacks
๐ Evening light
It is the perfect contrast to the earlier part of the day.
๐๏ธ Corbyn’s Cove Beach
Located just a few kilometres from Port Blair, Corbyn’s Cove Beach is one of the city’s popular seaside destinations.
The beach offers a relaxing environment where visitors can simply sit back and enjoy the sea.
For our Day 1 journey, it becomes the perfect place to slow down.
The sound of waves replaces the silence of the jail.
The open sea replaces the narrow corridors.
And the evening sky brings a peaceful conclusion to our first day.
๐ด A Quiet Evening by the Sea
There is something special about ending the first day of an island journey beside the ocean.
After travelling by air.
Exploring the city.
Experiencing history.
And discovering local flavours.
We finally get a chance to simply sit.
Have some tea.
Enjoy a few snacks.
Feel the sea breeze.
And watch the daylight slowly disappear.
Sometimes these simple moments become the most memorable ones.

๐ฅ Why We Create Silent Travel Videos
At TravelWithSurajit, our travel stories are not designed to overwhelm you with information.
They are designed to make you feel the place.
No constant talking.
No unnecessary narration.
No rush.
Instead, we capture:
๐ The movement of the sea.
๐ซ The view from the aircraft.
๐๏ธ The silence of historic places.
๐ด The atmosphere of tropical islands.
๐ The changing light of the evening.
The result is a travel experience that feels more like being there than simply watching a traditional travel vlog.
๐ Travel Without Leaving Home
Not everyone can travel whenever they wish.
Work.
Family.
Finances.
Time.
Personal circumstances.
There can be many reasons why someone cannot physically visit a destination.
That’s why our Digital Photo Albums and Silent Travel videos try to bring the world closer to you.
You may not be sitting beside the Andaman Sea.
You may not be walking through Cellular Jail.
You may not be looking down at turquoise islands from an aircraft.
But for a few minutes, we hope our journey allows you to experience those moments with us.
See the place.
Feel the atmosphere.
Connect with the journey. ๐
