Welcome to Day 1 of our Andaman Tour, a calm and immersive digital photo & video album by TravelWithSurajit. This episode captures the very first impressions of the Andaman Islands — from a peaceful sunrise at the airport to the historic silence of Cellular Jail and the soothing waves of Corbyn’s Cove Beach.
The journey begins with an early morning flight from Kolkata (CCU) to Port Blair (IXZ). As the plane approaches the islands, the video reveals breathtaking aerial views of the turquoise sea and scattered islands, offering a true visual introduction to Andaman. After arrival in Port Blair, we are transferred to Hotel Rishabite, Marine Hill, where the day starts gently with local seafood flavors including prawn curry and fresh fish.
A major highlight of Day 1 is the visit to Cellular Jail National Memorial, one of India’s most significant historical landmarks. Built between 1896 and 1906, the jail was designed for solitary confinement and originally had 698 cells across seven wings. Today, three wings remain, standing as a silent witness to India’s freedom struggle. The video walks through the galleries, central tower, martyr’s memorial flame, and the execution room, allowing viewers to feel the weight of history without narration — just visuals and atmosphere.
The day ends peacefully at Corbyn’s Cove Beach, located just a few kilometers from Port Blair city. Surrounded by coconut palms and calm waters, it’s the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset. Tea, snacks, sea breeze, and fading daylight bring Day 1 to a soothing close.
