🇮🇳 Ross Island: The Forgotten British Capital 🏛️Explore – History, Ticket 🎥 Andaman Tour: Day 5 Ep 2

“Ross Island is where history whispers through ruins, reminding us that empires fade but stories live forever.”

Andaman Tour – Day 5, Episode 2 brings you to Ross Island, now known as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, a place where history, mystery, and nature merge into one unforgettable experience. This episode is a journey into the forgotten capital of the British in Andaman, presented in the silent, immersive style of TravelWithSurajit, where visuals speak louder than words and emotions guide the exploration.

Ross Island once served as the administrative headquarters of the British in Andaman. Before Port Blair developed, this small island was the heart of colonial power. It had luxurious bungalows, churches, clubs, bakeries, printing presses, and even a power house. Today, all that remains are hauntingly beautiful ruins wrapped in tree roots, moss, and silence, creating an open-air museum of history.

The island also witnessed the horrors of World War II when the Japanese occupied it for three and a half years. Heavy bombing destroyed many important buildings including the Commissioner’s Bungalow. These scars are still visible and stand as reminders of a painful yet important chapter in world history.

A surprising historical fact shared in this episode is that Ross Island acted as a natural shield during the 2004 Tsunami. It absorbed a large part of the wave impact and helped reduce destruction in Port Blair, making the island not just a witness to history but also a silent protector.
