After a peaceful night’s rest, sleep wrapped us early at around 10:30 PM, gifting everyone the much-needed energy for another exciting day in the heart of Cherrapunji.
Morning arrived gently. At 6:30 AM, we woke up at San Nael La Resort, greeted by the same crisp chill that had lingered since last evening. The air was fresh, slightly cold—but today, the sky told a different story.
It was bright, sunny, and clear—a perfect day to explore the natural wonders of Sohra 🌿☀️
🧭 Today’s Plan – Adventure with a Surprise
The day was carefully planned, blending nature, adventure, and emotions:

And as the day would unfold, we would head back to Shillong—but not just for a stay.

Today was also a transition day.
We packed our luggage, as our night stay would shift to Rockski Boutique Hotel—the same cozy stay we had earlier in Shillong.

about 30 minutes later than planned, but with full energy and excitement.
The best part?
Our driver had stayed overnight at the hotel, so there was no waiting for the vehicle.
The car was already parked inside the resort premises, ready to roll.

There was no flowing waterfall.
Only vast cliffs, endless greenery, and a silent valley stretched before us.
For a moment, we all stood still—
not in awe, but in quiet disappointment.
That magical “wow” moment we had imagined…
just didn’t arrive this time.

Travel often teaches you this—
not every famous place will meet your expectations, but every place has its own story.
Just across the road, we discovered a small flowing stream over rocks.
Simple, calm, and untouched.
And somehow…
that became our moment.
We spent around 30 minutes there:

Stepping into Mawsmai Cave felt like entering a completely different world—
a world shaped silently over thousands of years.
This cave is one of the most accessible and beginner-friendly caves in Meghalaya, making it ideal for families and first-time explorers.

As we approached the entrance, reality set in.

They chose comfort over adventure and stayed back near the entry gate and parking area, waiting for us.

By 11:30 AM, we arrived at our next destination—
the peaceful and scenic Thangkharang Park, also known as the Eco Park of Cherrapunji.
The drive from Mawsmai Cave to here took around 20–30 minutes, covering roughly 7–9 km through the beautiful landscapes of Cherrapunji.
🌿 A Garden in the Sky
Spread across nearly 100 acres, Thangkharang Park is more than just a park—
it’s a natural viewpoint overlooking another country.
From here, you can witness:
- 🌏 The vast plains of Bangladesh stretching endlessly
- 🌊 The majestic Kynrem Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India
- 🌄 Deep green valleys and canyon-like landscapes
Standing there almost feels like watching a live satellite view of Earth—
calm, wide, and unbelievably beautiful.

Unlike the previous stops, this place gave us exactly what we needed—
space, peace, and time to slow down.
We spent around 30 minutes here:

Reaching Arwah Cave isn’t just about driving—
it begins with a 15–20 minute scenic walk from the parking area.
The trail offers two paths:

To boost energy for the walk, we shared chocolates with everyone, especially the kids 🍫

So, before heading back to Shillong,
we decided to take a lunch break right there at a small roadside restaurant near the parking area.
🍽️ Simple Food, Perfect Taste
Sometimes, the best meals come from the simplest places.
We ordered a Fish Thali for everyone, which included:

- 🥣 Dal
- 🥗 Salad
- 🥦 One vegetable
- 🐟 Fresh fish curry

And honestly…
it was absolutely delicious 💛

After lunch and a bit of rest,
we started our return journey around 4:00 PM.
Interestingly, although we had started the day 30 minutes late,
we were now perfectly back on schedule ⏱️
The distance from Cherrapunji to Shillong is around 52 km,
taking roughly 1.5 hours via scenic hill roads.
😴 A Rare Travel Moment
This drive was different for me.
For the first time during this trip…
instead of enjoying the views,
I fell asleep 😴
The tiredness from walking and exploring caves had finally caught up.
And sometimes, even in travel—
rest becomes part of the journey.

By 5:30 PM, we reached the lively and colorful
Police Bazar—
the most popular shopping hub of the city.
Often called the “Times Square of Shillong”,
this place is a vibrant mix of:

🎁 Children’s Day Shopping Begins
As planned, this stop was all about celebration prep 🎉
We started with gift shopping for kids:

While most of us returned to the hotel,
Sougata and Papai stayed back at the market and:

They later returned separately using local transport—

As we reached the hotel,
there was a different kind of energy in the air.

🌙 Back to Shillong – A Day Nears Its End
By 7:30 PM, we returned to our hotel—

with luggage, tired bodies, and hearts full of memories from Cherrapunji.
The plan was simple now:
freshen up… and celebrate Children’s Day 🎉
But travel, as always, had its own twist waiting.
⚠️ An Unexpected Moment
Just when everything seemed perfect,
a sudden concern changed the mood.
Titli started feeling unwell.
When we checked,
it was a high fever.
Maybe it was due to:

- Playing in the sun ☀️
- Or simply travel fatigue
The reason didn’t matter at that moment.
What mattered was—
would the celebration still happen?

🌿 End of Day Six – A Journey of Adventure & Emotion
Day 6 was not just another travel day— it was a perfect blend of nature, adventure, and heartfelt moments.
From the silent cliffs of Seven Sisters Waterfalls to the thrilling underground paths of Mawsmai Cave and Arwah Cave, every destination added a unique layer to our journey.
The peaceful views from Thangkharang Park gave us time to pause, while the return to Shillong brought a completely different energy— one of celebration, care, and togetherness.
The unexpected moment of Titli’s illness reminded us that travel is not always perfect…
but it is always real. And yet, despite everything, we celebrated.
🎉 A simple Children’s Day cake-cutting turned into one of the most emotional highlights of the trip— proving that the true beauty of travel lies not just in places, but in the people we share it with. As the day ended, we carried forward not just memories of landscapes,
but moments of love, bonding, and resilience 💛
✨ Day 6 taught us one thing:
The best journeys are not the smoothest ones… but the ones that stay in your heart forever.
