βDay Three wasnβt about rushing through places β it was about slowing down, healing, and letting Neil Island quietly touch our souls.β πβ¨
π Morning at Havelock & Ferry Journey Begins (Day 3)
π Early Morning at Swaraj Dweep
Our Day 3 in Andaman started with the tiredness of a difficult night. We woke up around 6:30 AM, as our Green Ocean Seaways ferry from Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) to Neil Island was scheduled at 10:00 AM.
Just like airport travel, ferry boarding here also requires reaching the dock 60β90 minutes early for identity verification, luggage handling, and security checks.
β€οΈ Health Check Before Departure
The first thing in the morning was to check everyoneβs health after last nightβs food poisoning scare.
β¨ Titli looked much better, fresh and active
β¨ Suchismita still had loose motion, but no fever or vomiting
β¨ A big relief β no emergency symptoms
After discussing as a family, we decided not to visit the local hospital at Havelock. If required, we would consult a doctor after reaching Neil Island, keeping our Day 3 plan intact.
𧴠Emergency Preparation First
Knowing we had a sea journey ahead, I walked to the nearby market and bought 10 liquid ORS packets from a medicine shop.
The weather was bright, sunny, and calm, a perfect start for island hopping.
π½οΈ Breakfast with Caution
Around 8:00 AM, Baba, Titli, and I went to the hotel dining hall for breakfast.
π Bread with butter & jelly
π³ Omelette
β A warm cup of coffee
Because of yesterdayβs experience and possible sea sickness, we kept the breakfast light and careful.
Meanwhile, Suchismita stayed in the room, having only muri with salt and sugar (kindly managed by the hotel kitchen) along with water.
π Checkout & Honest Talk with Manager
At 8:45 AM, we checked out from the hotel and left with the same car, driver, and manager who had been with us since our arrival at Havelock.
After hearing about last nightβs incident, the manager shared his thoughts:
π¬ It was most likely food poisoning from stale fish
π¬ Such incidents are rare at tourist spots
π¬ He assured full support and even doctor arrangements at Neil Island if required
His words gave us confidence and peace of mind.
β Reaching Havelock Jetty
We reached Havelock Jetty around 9:10 AM.
πͺͺ Ticket & identity check before entry
𧳠Managed a luggage trolley (lucky moment!)
πͺ Got seating near the railing while waiting
There was no heavy security like airports, making the process smooth and relaxed.
πΈ Capturing the Last Moments of Havelock
While waiting, I captured a few quiet frames with my companion camera β
π Turquoise waters
π Gentle waves
π The calm rhythm of island life
With Havelock slowly fading behind us, Day 3 promised a new island, new scenery, and fresh emotions. Neil Island was calling, and another chapter of our Andaman journey was about to begin.
π’ Sailing the Open Sea | Havelock to Neil Island
π Boarding the Green Ocean Seaways
Our journey continued aboard a private AC cruise by Green Ocean Seaways, sailing smoothly across the open sea toward Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep). As the vessel moved forward, cool ocean air touched our faces and the endless blue horizon unfolded before us.
The calm sea instantly felt therapeutic, washing away the exhaustion of the previous night.
β±οΈ The cruise reached the jetty with a 10-minute delay, but boarding and luggage handling were smooth
β Despite the delay, the ferry departed Swaraj Dweep on time
π’ Bigger Cruise, Smoother Ride
Compared to yesterdayβs Makruzz, todayβs Green Ocean cruise felt larger, heavier, and more stable β a big relief after the fear of sea sickness.
π³οΈ multi-deck deep-sea vessel
π³οΈ Better balance on waves
π³οΈ Designed for open-sea travel
πΊ Our Seating Experience
Our tickets were booked in Luxury Class (2nd Class), located on the first floor of the vessel.
π’ Ground floor β lower seating class
π’ First floor β Luxury class (our seats)
π’ Top floor β one small cabin (15β20 seats) + open deck
The top deck was the most attractive part of this cruise:
πΆ Soft music playing
β Cafeteria nearby
π¬οΈ Open space to stand, breathe, and enjoy the sea
Our seats were in the middle row, without a window view. Still, the overall comfort and stability made the journey pleasant.
β³ Distance & Duration
The Green Ocean ferry covers approximately 18β22 nautical miles (18β19 km) between:
π Havelock (Swaraj Dweep)
π Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep)
β° Average travel time: about 90 minutes (1.5 hours)
β° Some sailings may take closer to 1 hour, depending on sea conditions
π¬οΈ Open Deck & Ocean Moments
After some time, I noticed Suchismita, Titli, and Baba slowly falling asleep.
I was tired too, but I never like sleeping during a journey β especially on the sea.
πΈ I picked up my camera
π Walked toward the open deck
π₯ Started capturing videos and photographs
Standing there felt magical.
It was like a silent competition between the ship and the waves β
every wave trying to slow us down, and the ship confidently breaking through, moving forward without hesitation.
The sky was crystal clear, the vessel was large, and the ride was smooth β
β¨ No fear
β¨ No sea sickness
β¨ Only enjoyment
π΄ Sharing the View
I returned to our floor and invited everyone to join me on the open deck.
π΄ Baba came with me
π΄ Suchismita and Titli preferred resting on their seats
This time, thankfully, there was no vomiting or discomfort for us.
However, I noticed a few other passengers requesting vomiting bags from the crew β a reminder that sea journeys affect everyone differently.
ποΈ Arrival at Neil Island
With nothing unusual happening during the rest of the journey, we finally reached Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) around 12 noon.
A new island.
New landscapes.
New experiences waiting just beyond the jetty.

For many travellers, this memory becomes synonymous with island hopping itself.
π Arrival at Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) β A Calm New Chapter
As soon as we stepped onto Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep), we could instantly feel the difference. Compared to the lively vibe of Havelock, Neil felt quieter, slower, and deeply peaceful. The island welcomed us with crystal-clear blue water that looked like a perfect mirror of the sky.
β¨ The water color here was simply unbelievable
β¨ From the jetty itself, we could clearly see underwater corals
β¨ The calmness of the surroundings felt refreshing after the previous dayβs adventure

As usual, I asked Titli to manage a trolley for carrying our luggage, which she did smoothly. Meanwhile, our Neil Island tour manager had already called me and informed that he was waiting just outside the jetty.
π From Jetty to Hotel β A Short & Smooth Transfer
After collecting all our luggage, we slowly walked out of the jetty and met our tour manager.
π Destination β Hotel Amulya Residency
β±οΈ Distance β Approx 15 minutesβ drive from jetty

The drive itself gave us our first glimpse of Neil Islandβs calm roads, greenery, and relaxed island life.
π¨ Hotel Amulya Residency β Simple, Clean & Comfortable
At the hotel reception, they warmly offered us tea or a welcome drink, but we politely declined and requested lunch instead.
π½οΈ Lunch time informed β Around 1:30 PM
π₯ Special request β Boiled potato for Suchismita due to stomach upset
π€ Staff response β Very cooperative and understanding
The rooms here were slightly smaller compared to Port Blair and Havelock, but:
ποΈ Rooms were clean and well maintained
πΏ Bathrooms were neat and functional
π Both our rooms were on the 1st floor, side by side
Since we hadnβt bathed properly in the morning at Havelock, we decided to freshen up first.

π΄ Baba β Feeling good
π§ Titli β Absolutely fine

As informed by our tour manager:
π Laxmanpur Beach II β Just 2 km from hotel
πΆ Options β Walk or take local auto
π Car availability β Around 4:30 PM for Laxmanpur Beach I (Sunset)
So after lunch, with no plan to return to the room again before evening, we walked about 100 meters to the nearby crossing point to catch a local auto for Laxmanpur Beach II β ready to explore another untouched beauty of Neil Island.
ποΈ Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) β The Calm Soul of Andaman
Neil Island, officially known as Shaheed Dweep, is one of the most peaceful and charming islands in the Andaman & Nicobar group. If Havelock is about adventure and energy, Neil Island is about silence, simplicity, and slow living.

Neil Island is famous for its unbelievably clear water and shallow coral reefs.
π Water so transparent that corals are visible from the jetty

β³ Ideal for couples, families, and peaceful travellers
π· Great for nature photography and sunset lovers
Neil Island doesnβt try to impress β it simply calms you down.

Laxmanpur Beach II is best known for its Natural Coral Bridge, also called Howrah Bridge.
π Formed naturally by living corals shaped by tides
β³ Visible properly only during low tide

A rusty board near the shore lists safety warnings, reminding visitors to stay cautious on the rocky terrain.
β οΈ Important Safety & Visit Tips
π Wear waterproof sandals or sturdy footwear
πͺΈ Avoid stepping on living corals
β»οΈ Do not litter β this area is ecologically sensitive
π
Always plan visit during low tide for best visibility
The path toward the coral bridge is slippery and sharp, especially after waves retreat.
π Absorbing the Raw Beauty
Walking along the rocky shoreline, we watched gentle waves crash against ancient coral structures carved by time.
π¬οΈ Wild yet peaceful atmosphere
πͺ¨ Nature untouched and unfiltered
π§ A place that asks you to pause, not rush
Because of our health condition and slight fever, we chose not to walk all the way to the coral bridge. Instead, we admired it from a distance and spent around 30β45 minutes simply soaking in the scenery.
π Return & Rest
After spending quiet moments there, we returned to the same drop point.
π Local bus easily available for return

π² Instead of walking back along the beach, we chose a narrow forest trail under tall pine trees

ποΈ History, Local Beliefs & Island Stories of Laxmanpur Beach I
π Origins of the Name βLaxmanpurβ
According to local belief, the beach and nearby village derive their name from Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Rama. Island elders say that ancient travellers and settlers named places after figures they revered, believing these lands were protected by divine presence. While there is no written archaeological proof, such stories have been passed down through generations of island families.
π΄ A Beach That Was Once Only for Locals
Before tourism reached Neil Island, Laxmanpur Beach I was primarily a fishing and resting zone for local villagers. Fishermen would pull their boats onto the wide flat sand after long days at sea and wait for sunset β a natural signal marking the end of work and the beginning of rest.
π
Local Thought: βThe Sun Rests Hereβ
Many locals believe that the sun slows down at Laxmanpur Beach I. Youβll often hear elders say that sunsets here feel longer and calmer than elsewhere. Whether myth or mindset, the peaceful energy of the place makes the belief feel real.
πͺ Evening Silence Tradition
Locals prefer quiet evenings here. Unlike commercial beaches, loud music and parties never became part of Laxmanpurβs identity. This is why the beach still feels untouched β a place meant for reflection rather than celebration.
π Sea as a Teacher
Islanders often describe the sea here as βshant aur gahraβ β calm but deep. The wide horizon reminds them of patience, resilience, and respect for nature. Visitors who sit quietly often feel the same emotional connection without realizing why.
π Stories Without Boards or Signs
There are no history plaques or information boards on the beach. Locals believe the stories should be felt, not read. The wind, waves, coral stones, and changing sky carry the memory of the island better than words.
π What Locals Say About Laxmanpur Beach I
π£οΈ βYeh beach bolta nahi, mehsoos hota hai.β
(This beach doesnβt speak β it is felt.)
π£οΈ βJo shaant dil se baithta hai, woh sabse zyada le jaata hai.β
(Those who sit with a calm heart take the most from this place.)
β¨ Memory Line Blending History & Emotion

With the gentle sea breeze brushing past and the distant sound of waves echoing softly, the island wrapped us in its quiet comfort.

In the evening, we chose to stay indoors and rest. The hotel staff served us mix muri as a light snack along with hot tea, which felt simple yet comforting after a long, sun-filled day.
π½οΈ Dinner Arrangements with Care
Keeping Suchismitaβs health in mind, we requested boiled potato and plain rice for her dinner. For the rest of us, roti and chicken curry were served, as chicken was on the menu that night. The staff was extremely cooperative and mindful of our requests.
π» Backing Up Memories
While waiting for dinner, I finally found time to back up yesterdayβs and todayβs photos and videos onto my laptop and charge all camera batteries. Yesterday had been a hat-trick day for challenges, leaving no time for this routine β but tonight felt calmer and organized.
Though I still felt a mild fever, it was manageable and didnβt dampen the peace of the evening.
π Dinner & Early Rest
Around 9:45 PM, we completed our dinner. The hotel follows a served meal system instead of buffet, and the staff were polite, soft-spoken, and genuinely caring β something that makes a big difference when youβre traveling with family.
Soon after, we decided to sleep early to recharge ourselves for the next dayβs journey.
